About Us

My name is Amanda. I am a single parent of 2 girls. We live in a small rural town on the coast of Maine. We have 2 dogs, 4 cats and a very independent fish named Dobby. It is my hope to be known as the weird cat lady in my old age. I work as a full-time nurse at a local hospital. I can be opinionated and rarely judgmental, but I am also kind, funny, loyal and loving. I am known by family and friends for being outspoken and honest. I had one chance at love in my life, lost, and by choice, will be alone now. I am not a martyr just realistic. This blog is about us. My girls, both amazing humans. One a teen, one younger and special needs both useful for amazing stories. There will be stories of my pets who, by way of living in my crazy world, are a bit wacky. There will be stories of my siblings, two brothers, and their families. There will be stories of caretaking for my elderly mother who lived with me until her death in June 2022. She was such an amazing person. She taught me that life owes you nothing, you have to work hard for what you want, that sometimes staying silent is the best course of action, amazingly this is the hardest for me. She taught me that respect for others is essential to getting respect in return, that kindness is not optional and that dictating others’ lives or opinions is not our job. There will be stories of my nursing experiences. Stories of people I have met and people that I know. Stories of the place I live and the places I have been. This is OUR story. You don’t have to read it, agree with it or like the content. My hope is to connect with others who may have similar experiences or not but have something relevant to bring to the table whether it be a new idea, a new way of looking at something or an amusing anecdote. A support system for those enduring difficult times, lonely, lost or just looking for support and friendship. Let’s laugh together, cry together and figure things out together.
